True Holiday Spirit
Yesterday my sister Julia and I volunteered with our coworkers at the Redwood Empire Food Bank. It was a fun afternoon filled with macaroni, lasagna… and ultra-stylish hair nets!
We spent the afternoon measuring and bagging pasta, listening to music, and spending some quality time with each other.
The pasta we bagged will be sent to the more than 78,000 people in our community who receive food from the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Their programs provide food primarily to working families, seniors, and low-income children who are struggling to make ends meet. In addition to these programs, the Bank distributes food to 147 (!) charitable organizations in the area which help the needy, disabled and homeless.
I felt so inspired by everything the Food Bank is doing for our community. It made me so grateful for everything I have, and reminded me of what the holidays are really about.

I am already looking forward to volunteering next year. Although next time, I think I’ll avoid having my picture taken while I am wearing a hair net.
