In case you hadn’t heard, the royal newlyweds, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are planning on visiting Santa Barbara tomorrow as a part of their honeymoon tour of the United States! For those of you who didn’t have huge crushes on Prince William when you were 14-years-old (ahem!), this may not have as much of an impact as on others, but I can testify that there were at least two girls who have names on some Cambria wine bottles who are very excited that the Prince and Princess will be coming to Central California as a part of their honeymoon!
In honor of William and Kate’s visit to Santa Barbara County, and because we love to have an excuse for an event, Cambria Winery is going to be offering all of our visitors this weekend 2-for-1 tastings all day July 8th, 9th, and 10th, as well as 15% discounts on some of our summer white wines! The weather is beautiful in Santa Maria this weekend, so although I can’t promise you’ll have as much fun as you would attending the charity polo match where William and Kate will be this Saturday, I can guarantee that it will still be a wonderful visit! If you are in the area, come by anytime between 10am and 5pm for your tastings and wine discounts!
Speaking of the charity polo match, I just read about the menu that will be served at polo club that William and Kate will be visiting in Santa Barbara, and it sounds fantastic! Celebrity chef Giada de Laurentiis from the Food Network has put together the menu, which will be featuring food meant to showcase California cuisine, including what Giada called “very colorful” “fresh, organic ingredients”! On the menu will be pea and pesto crostini with halved cherry tomatoes, mini lasagnas with sweet corn, grilled lettuce chopped salads, and some sort of chocolate dessert! I’m thinking that Katherine’s Vineyard would go very well with almost everything, with our Late Harvest Viognier for dessert. What about you? What wines and food would you serve for the royal luncheon?
